The Egyptian Women in Mathematics Association (EWMA) is proud to feature Professor Selma Negzaoui, a distinguished Tunisian mathematician and the newly elected President of the African Women in Mathematics Association (AWMA). Her career reflects both scientific excellence and dedicated service to advancing women’s participation in mathematics across Africa and the Arab world.
Short Bio:
Professor Selma Negzaoui is a mathematician at the Institut Préparatoire aux Études d'Ingénieurs de Monastir, University of Monastir, and a member of the Laboratory of Mathematical Analysis and Applications at the Faculty of Sciences of Tunis, University of Tunis El Manar. Her research lies in harmonic and functional analysis, with special focus on integral transforms, special functions, and associated operators such as Dunkl, Bessel–Struve, and Laguerre operators. She has published widely in international journals and contributed to the development of analytic methods in these fields.
She has been actively engaged in advancing women’s participation in mathematics across Africa and the Arab region. Since 2018, she has served as President of the Tunisian Women Mathematicians Association (TWMA) and as Vice-President of the African Women in Mathematics Association (AWMA) for the North Africa region for the period 2020–2024. She is also a member of the IMU Committee for Women in Mathematics (CWM), where she contributes to global initiatives promoting gender equity in the mathematical sciences.
In recognition of her scientific achievements, she received the Young Researcher Prize of the Tunisian Academy of Sciences, Letters and Arts – Beit El Hikma in 2021.
In 2025, Professor Negzaoui was elected President of the African Women in Mathematics Association (AWMA), continuing her commitment to fostering collaboration, mentorship, and leadership opportunities for women mathematicians across the continent.
